CAS Christmas September Challenge - Plaid

Hello there.  It’s a new challenge at CAS Christmas and this month’s theme is PLAID.

One of the first things that come to mind when I think of plaid is pajamas.  This gave me the perfect excuse to use new stamp set Secret Santa from My Favorite Things to create my card.

The girl and boy were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto an Xpress It cardstock panel die cut with the Wrapped Stitch Rectangle die from Memory Box.  Masked them, then stamped the Santa image.  Masked the “wall” area next and blended light gray dye ink with a blender brush for the floor.  Removed all masks and coloured in the images with Copic markers.

The girl’s nightgown and boy’s pillow were paper pieced using pattern papers from Memory Box Madras Plaid Blue and Violet and Dashing Holiday paper packs, respectively.  This was done simply by stamping the images onto the papers and fussy cutting out the necessary parts to adhere on top.  Shading was added to them with Copic markers as well.  The sentiment was heat embossed with Liquid Platinum embossing powder.  Although not noticeable, Nuvo Crystal Glaze was added to the few baubles on the tree to finish.

We have Melanie (Cards by Melanie) as our guest this month.  To check out what she and the design team have created to inspire you to join in the fun, click HERE.  The challenge ends on September 24 PST, so there is plenty of time to play along.  Thank you for dropping by.

  24. This is definitely my next stamp set! I have to say your card brings back memories of my brother and I (hmm, we look very similar to those images) when our parents woke us up one Christmas Eve to see Santa putting presents under our tree. It is one of my best Christmas memories. Enough about me! Your card is absolutely perfect, from the layout to the coloring - FABULOUS! So glad you joined us at Christmas with the Cuties!

  25. Tremendously sweet card, Trina. It reminds me a great deal of my little brother and I when we were both youngsters (with heads of blonde hair, much like the sweet siblings here).
