Golden Birthday

Hello everyone!  It's been a while since I've posted, but I am kicking off a string of birthday posts beginning with my mother-in-law's card.  Her birthday is actually today and it's a milestone!  She loves her wine and I was hoping I would get my wine set dies in time to make her card with it, but that didn't happen.  So instead and unlike her son (aka my hubby), she loves the colour gold and after seeing this card, I decided to re-create it.

I started by taking an A2 size piece of black cardstock from my stash and blended Delicata gold ink through a Sunshine stencil with a mini blending tool.  Removed the stencil and blended more gold ink in a circle.  For even more shimmer, applied Gold Perfect Pearls powder to the ink.  Wiped off excess with a Swiffer cloth.

Heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder.  To make it stand out better, used a black Polychromos pencil to add a shadow.  Mixed Gansai Tambi gold paints with water and added some gold splatters.

The final step was to add the die cuts.  The confetti and gold balloons with strings were die cut from a scrap of gold foil paper.  The white balloons were leftovers from a previous card and all I had to do was die cut the strings from white cardstock.  The panel was adhered to a white card base to finish.

Oh my goodness, Trina, your card takes my breath away! Using that sunburst stencil was a brilliant idea. It really makes it appear as if the balloons and confetti are bursting forth from the card. How dazzling that gold must be in person. I have to say, I love the original but think yours is more striking and has way more depth. A super creation. Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.

Wow, what a fantastic re-creation of the birthday card, Trina! I love the stenciled gold sun ray against the black card base. Adding the Gold Perfect Pearl makes a big difference. The foil balloons and confetti look so festive, and your attention to detail (like adding a shadow to the heat-embossed sentiment) is always wonderful! Your MIL will sure love the card.
