Jane’s Doodles Challenge #4 - Masking

Hello there.  It’s time for another Jane’s Doodles challenge and the theme this time is Masking.

Those who know me know how much I love the masking technique.  And I love using it to create scenes like this.

On an alcohol friendly stitched panel, the rocket from Jane’s Doodles To The Moon was stamped with alcohol friendly black ink.  Masked it then stamped the flames.  Masked the flames and the borders to create a reverse masked area.  For some interest, tore the bottom border mask.  Stamped the planet and moon and masked them.

To create the soft colour galaxy background, Shaded Lilac, Salty Ocean and Faded Jeans distress inks were blended on with blender brushes.  Splattered with white gouache paint and drew in a few stars with a white gel pen.  Removed the masks and coloured the images in with Copics.  Black heat embossed the sentiment from Jane’s Doodles Plants with clear glitter embossing powder.  Added Crystal Glaze to the rocket and clear shimmer to the flames to finish.

Want a chance to win a $30 gift card to the Jane’s Doodles store?  Simply create a new project (no back linking) using at least one Jane’s Doodles stamp set and link it up HERE.  There you will also find the full challenge details.  Thank you for stopping by.   Have a great day!
