CAS Christmas July Challenge - Nativity

Happy Fri-yay everyone!  Christmas in July is here and so is this month’s Nativity challenge at CAS Christmas.

I used the Drop Nativity die from Memory Box to create this clean and simple (CAS) card.

The nativity image was die cut three times from scraps of Bristol paper and stacked for dimension.  The unwanted parts were removed with scissors then a bottom straight edge was trimmed with a paper trimmer.

Next, masked off the bottom area on a Bristol A2 stitched panel from my stash and ink blended Salty Ocean distress ink over a Sunray stencil from Funky Fossil Designs.  Removed the stencil and blended the remaining ink on the blender brush to fill in some of the white space.  For some shimmer, spritz with a sparkle spray (couldn’t capture it in the photo).  White heat embossed the sentiment from My Favorite Things Bitty Holiday Wishes on a black strip, then assembled the card.  For a little more sparkle, added a few clear sparkly sequins to finish.

We have Jane (Purplejet Loves Crafts) guest designing this month.  Be inspired by what she and my team have created HERE, then come play along with us.  The challenge ends July 24 PST, so there is plenty of time.  Hope to see you in the gallery.  Thank you for joining me.

What a pretty nativity CAS card, Trina! Love the stacked white die-cuts against the beautifully stenciled rays! I always admire the way you stretch your supplies (trimming the die-cut in this case).

Great dimension from the stacked die cuts! And so nice to see the rays done in blue instead of the usual gold or yellow - the blue is perfect with the white and the black of the sentiment strip. Love the addition of a few sequins!

LOVE the rays stenciling in the background, Trina. Looks so amazing in the bright blue. Perfect to show off the lovely altered die-cut. The black sentiment banner adds some lovely contrast! Amazing design, my friend! xx

This is beautiful, Trina! I love your blue stenciled background that shows off the holy family beautifully and how the sentiment grounds the whole scene! So perfectly CAS!

what a creative use of that beautiful die Trina! - just using the manger bit - your blue stenciling on the sun burst is perfect behind the die cut - and the white embossed on black sentiment really anchors the scene!

Vivid, beautiful greeting. It's hard to believe that we're scarcely more than five months away from the return of Christmas. One can only imagine, given the year we've had so far, what might transpire between then and now. Hopefully we'll experience calmer, safer times (complete with ample time to craft).
