Merry and Bright

Hello everyone.  I’m just dropping in quickly to share a half sheet (8.5”x5.5”) Christmas card made for my goddaughter’s teacher.  It needed to be large enough so all the students in her class could sign it.

I started by trimming a piece of Bristol paper to 8.25”x5.25”.   It was die cut with the Very Merry and Bright die from My Favorite Things (MFT).  Masked off the snowy ground and ink blended turquoise dye ink and Blueprint Sketch distress ink from the bottom and left sides and fading out.  Spritz it with water and blot with a paper towel, followed by adding white and turquoise splatters for some texture.  Backed the opening with a piece of red Christmas Plaid paper from Memory Box.

Next, the images from MFT BB Holiday Penguins were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on X-Press It cardstock, coloured in with Copic markers, then die cut out with the coordinating dies.  Thought it would be fun to have one of the penguins tangled in lights, so die cut Lawn Fawn Mini String of Lights from a scrap of X-Press It cardstock and coloured the bulbs with red Copic markers R89 and R46.

Assembled the card onto a white 8.5”x5.5” side folding card base, then added clear shimmer to the red tree ornaments and white highlights with a white gel pen to finish.  Thank you for visiting.

Oh how fun Trina! It's hard to fill a larger card like that - I've made a few of them when lots of people needed to sign - Your tree decorating penguins are so cute with the big bold plaid letters! Your winter sky is gorgeous!

Love the plaid lettering and the sweet little penguins. The teacher will love it - so much more unique than a store-bought card.

Thoroughly awesome + adorable greeting! I'm a major fan of oversized cards and, indeed, many of my makes are a bit bigger than the average handmade card size range. I just adore having such a spacious "blank canvas" to work with.
