Spellbinders - Winter Garden

Hello everyone.  The Spellbinders 2022 Christmas in July collection is packed with many fabulous products.  Today I’m sharing a few simple cards made with products from the Winter Garden collection. The Flourished Tree hot foil plate is so elegant and doesn’t require much to turn it into beautiful Christmas cards, so I created two colour versions.

After hot foiling the trees with silver hot foil on navy blue and light pink cardstock, distress inks (Chipped Sapphire, Kitsch Flamingo and Picked Raspberry) were applied to the panels with blender brushes.  The sentiments from Holiday Sentiments Series 2 were also hot foiled with silver hot foils.

On the blue one, it was hot foiled on a separate same blue colour cardstock, then trimmed into a strip to add to the tree to make it look like it was part of the tree.  Did it work? 😂
  ,

For the pink, it was hot foiled directly on the panel.  Splattered both with water and blot with a paper towel for some texture.  Added jewels in their respective colours to finish.

My final card features the Letterbox dies.  Love this old style mailbox!  This is an A6 size card measuring 4.5”x6”.  The letterbox was die cut from Bristol and white woodgrain paper.  Light gray dye ink was used for shading.  The background is from my favourite Blurry Flurries paper pack by Whimsy Stamps.

The holly, berries and mistletoe decorations came from Build a Winter Birdhouse.  They were die cut from alcohol marker friendly cardstock and coloured in with Copic Sketch markers.  The sentiment from the October 2021 Sending You clear stamp of the month was stamped in black.  Splattered with diluted white gouache paint and added accumulated snow with a white gel pen to finish.

The foiling is gorgeous and just shines. The blue strip blends right in and doesn't look added on. I like the non-traditional colors. The mailbox card is so pretty but calling it old fashioned makes me feel old. I have this very mailbox in front of my house!

They are three lovely cards Trina, the blue one is my favourite and yes, the sentiment strip really seems part of the foiled tree, if you haven't said, I have never seen that it isn't! :D

Three beautiful cards Trina! I love how you've added sponging onto the coloured background surrounding the gorgeous foiled trees. It really brings the eye to focus on the tree. And I didn't realize the seniment wasn't part of the tree design ... so your blue strip of cardstock worked like a charm to blend it together. The mail box is so sweet with the flurry of snowflakes in the background and the greenery on top. Using white woodgrain paper is so clever for the box. Great work!! xx

Love them all the inky backgrounds on the tree ones is gorgeous and the foiled trees look brilliant.
Love the scene on your third card of that old post box and your colouring is perfectly done too.

What beautiful foiled trees and I love how you did the sentiments, Trina! The sentiment on the tree worked beautifully! The mailbox is so pretty and looks much like our mailbox. I love how you've decorated it up for Christmas! Your Christmas stash is growing beautifully, my friend!

All three Christmas cards are fabulous, Trina! The shine of the hot foiled Christmas trees is pretty on the beautifully ink-blended backgrounds. Nice variations of the sentiment placement too!
I love the letterbox card. I thought you made/colored the background too, because the light gray shading of the letterbox looks so natural against the background. Amazing job!
