Hello everyone. Where did January go? It’s February 1st and Whimsy Stamps (WS) has a new mini release. I know Valentine is coming up, but this release is moving onto the next holiday celebration - St. Patrick’s Day! I am featuring the new Shenanigans Lassie die set and Lucky Day A2 toner card front panels.
The sentiment from one of the toner panels was foiled with Emerald Watercolor Decofoil then fussy cut out. Shenanigans Lassie was die cut from alcohol marker friendly (AMF) cardstock and thick white paper to stack for support. Coloured her skin and hair with Copic Sketch markers. I wish I knew how to draw because my attempt at drawing in her face was awful. 😂 Since the foil was out, took double-sided adhesive and attached it to a white paper scrap. Removed the adhesive liner then applied the foil to it before die cutting the skirt and hat from it.
Her shirt was die cut from AMF cardstock and shading added with cool gray Copic Sketch markers. Her boots were die cut from black glossy paper. Finally, an A2 Antique Frame was die cut from Bristol paper before assembling the card. Added some sparkling clear sequins to finish.
For my second card, the horseshoe toner panel was foiled with gold Decofoil. Trimmed the panel down to 4.75”x3.5”, then ink blended Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Rustic Wilderness and Black Soot distress inks. Wiped excess ink off with a paper towel.
The Heartfelt Thoughts sentiment stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on AMF cardstock and the Shenanigans Lassie clover die cut from AMF cardstock were both coloured with green Copic Sketch markers. Coloured around the sentiment in black and mounted the shamrock onto black cardstovck before fussy cutting them out. Assembled the card onto a split black/white card base and added highlights with a white gel pen to finish.
Here’s a small sampling of inspirations from the design team

Two lovely cards Trina, with a great use of foiling. Love Especially the first one and the face of the girls looks perfect to me! Well done with your drawing, colouring and paper piecing!!

Two fantastic St. Patrick's Day cards, Trina! Love how you've colored this lass and perched her on the frame! And the golden horseshoes show beautifully on that green background!
ReplyDeleteTwo great cards, I don't make St Patrick's day cards but do love these two :)
ReplyDeleteBoth cards look like they're bringing us good luck, Trina! Love the pretty shine and sparkle of the Shenanigans Lassie card. The color and shine of the Emerald Watercolor Decofoil, in particular, is amazing! Great job of fussy-cutting the foiled sentiment! The colors of the horseshoe are coordinated so well, and the design is awesome. I'd be at a loss how to use the horseshoe pattern panel. Both cards are wonderful showcases of the new release!

WOW! I am delighted with the details of both cards. The girl looks amazing with patent leather shoes and a shiny skirt and hat. I laughed at your confession that you couldn't draw. It's exactly the same as me, but luckily your cards don't show it at all.
ReplyDeleteI love the second project, all these greens are so beautiful and take me to the fullness of summer.
