Spellbinders - Pressed Posies

Hello there.  After seven months, I finally got around to using the BetterPress LetterPress (BP) system from Spellbinders (SB) and I love it!  There really is no learning curve needed with it because it’s super easy to use and get great results.  Today I have a card featuring A Friend Like You Bouquet and You Are Everything Sentiments press plates from SB Pressed Posies collection released this month.

“A Friend Like You Bouquet” press plate was inked up with Obsidian Amalgam ink because it works with different colouring mediums including alcohol markers.  Pressed the image onto alcohol marker friendly cardstock and coloured with Copic Sketch markers.  Once colouring was complete, splattered the panel with diluted black gouache paint, trimmed it to 3-7/8x5.5-inch then added clear shimmer to the flowers for some sparkle.
Please note: because I didn’t use thick cardstock, I didn’t get a “true” faux letterpress look, but I still got a greath impression.  Will use a thicker alcohol marker friendly cardstick next time.

Copic markers used:
pink - RV000, R81/83/85
yellow - Y21/23, YR24
blue - B60/63/66/69
green - YG61/63/67
brown - E31/25
white/shading - C00/1/3

“You Are Everything Sentiments” is a single plate containing 12 all-occasion sentiments.  It was inked with VersaMark ink and pressed onto Pitch Black cardstock treated with anti static powder.  Heat embossed with white embossing powder then die cut out with the matching die resulting in 12 sentiments in one pass through.  Mounted the panel onto an A2 size panel with a strip of washi tape down the left side then assembled onto a white card base to finish.

I just ordered this pressplate so I'm glad for the inspiration, Trina! I did use Copics on the Betterpress cotton cardstock and it worked fine but it's hard to keep the colors light. I think we're going to have lots of fun with this easy to use tool!

Congrats for your new cool toy Trina :D Your first attempt is just a delight!!! Great effect on the flowers, wonderful colouring (obviously, you are SO talented!) and having 12 sentiment with only one cut sound awesome! :) Love that black and white washi on the left, a perfect finish!

Beautiful card. Beautifully colored, and the addition of black and white washi tape perfectly matches the sentiment and character of the card.

Gorgeous floral bouquet, Trina - delighted to see you jump on the Betterpress bandwagon. Such fun, isn't it? I've used my Copics on the cotton paper but you can't get a true blend (did a lot of dotting!). Good to know the paper you used!

Thanks for the tip of using Obsidian Amalgam rather than the Better Press inks.
You have coloured the flower so beautifully ♥ Such an elegant card.
