Spellbinders - Poppy Background

Hello everyone.  It’s Remembrance Day today in Canada (and many other countries as well), so it was fitting to pull out the beautiful Poppy Background press plate and stencils from the Yana’s Poppies Collection by Spellbinders (SB) to create a symbolic poppy thank you card for those who are serving and have served and lost their lives in the line of duty.

The press plate was inked with the BetterPress black ink, then pressed into an A2 size Porcelain  cotton card panel using the BetterPress System, resulting in black negative space.  Distress inks (DI), blending brushes and the coordinating stencil set were then used to colour the images.

Di used:
poppies - Abandoned Coral, Lumberjack Plaid, Black Soot
stems/leaves - Lost Shadow

To cover up splotchy areas where the ink did not press well, ink blending with Black Soot DI was done to “fill” in the gaps.  Die cut the sentiment from white shimmer paper and its shadow from black cardstock before assembling the card onto a white card base. Added dot details to the poppy centers with a white gel pen to finish.

SB products used are linked below.  Thank you for stopping  by.
