Whimsy Stamps - Masculine Birthdays

Hello there.  The current Yellow and Black Color Hues challenge #135 inspired my cards today.  Using goodies from Whimsy Stamps (WS), I created two masculine birthday cards.  I had a third idea, but it didn’t work out. 🤷🏻‍♀️  These colours immediately made me think of bees… so this is where I’ll start.

The bee from Bee Happy was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on X-Press It paper, coloured with Copic Sketch markers then fussy cut out.  The Happy Day sentiment was also die cut from X-PresIt paper and coloured with the same yellow markers as the bee.

Stretched the Chunky Checkers die and made it look like a honey pot since the shape reminded me of it.  It was die cut from Bristol paper and ink blended over a Honeycomb Drips stencil with distress inks (Scattered Straw, Fossilized Amber, Bronze Corduroy).  Splattered it with diluted black gouache paint for texture I  Assembled the card onto a white card base, popping the bee up with foam tape.  Added highlights with a white Posca pen to finish.

My econd card was influenced by my dad.  He lovd the water and going fishing.  He usually went in the early morning, so I guess this is a sunrise scene on his case. 😂  Stamped the Tranquil Wishes image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Coloured the image / whole scene with warm gray and yellow Copic Sketch markers.

Masked the boat and used a Memento Tuxedo Black marker to ink only the fisherman from Born to Fish then stamped him.  Repeated this step a few times.  The sentiment from Raccoon Happy Day was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink and heat embossed with clear glitter embossing powder. Die cut the panel with the Treasure Map then adhered to a split black/white card base to finish.

I love the honey oozing over the top of the honey jar and that fun bee! A playful and fun card, Trina! The fishing at sunrise scene is amazing! It's a real work of art! Thanks so much for sharing it with us at Color Hues!

Both of your cards are AWESOME Trina! That little bee is so stinkin' CUTE and you've colored that honey jar perfectly! Bonnie said it perfectly that your 2nd card is a work of art and in my humble opinion, frame worthy! You definitely have some mad coloring skills my friend and we're so glad you shared them with us at the Color Hues Challenge!! Hugs. :0)

Two totally different but fabulous cards, Trina. First off, I love how you made your honey pot. Such a brilliant design and the smart bee is super cute. As for your second card, what a wonderful way to remember your dad. Love the sunrise scene and how you framed it in. As always, your work is fabulous. Thanks for finishing off the gallery at Color Hues with these two beauties.

Trina, I love how you showcased two completely different ways to use the CH color combo. That bee is just too darn cute and the honey pot from that stamp set turned out fabulous. The second card is a touching way to honor your dad and his love of fishing. Your coloring as always is fantastic on both cards! Thank you so much for joining in with us at Color Hues!

Two wonderfully masculine cards, and the second card perfectly captured the atmosphere of a rising sun. A brilliant card, especially since it's based on your memories.
