Guest Designer for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown February 2026 Colour Challenge - Gold & Black

Hello everyone.  I’m excited to be guest designing (GD) at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown (52CCT) for their GOLD & BLACK colour challenge.

One of the designs in the Whimsy Stamps (WS) Champagne slimline paper pack was the starting point for my card.  I used a silhouette stamp set and a holy star die (unfortunately, both are discontinued/unavailable) to create this nativity scene.

The pattern paper was trimmed down to 4.25”.  Stamped the images with Versafine Onyx Black ink then heat embossed with clear glitter embossing powder.  Stamped the sentiment on a A2 size black panel with VersaMark ink next and heat embossed with gold embossing powder.  Die cut the star from gold glitter paper, then assembled the card onto a black card base to finish.

I want to thank the 52CCT team for having me GD.  Please note affiliate links were used when possible in this post, so if you click on a link or two, I will get a small compensation at no extra cost to you… your support is appreciated.  Thank you for dropping by.

Guest Designer for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown January 2026 Colour Challenge - Kraft, Green, Gold

Hello everyone and happy new year!  It’s my first post this year and I’m excited to be a guest designer (GD) at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown (52CCT) for their Colour Challenge this month.

I was going in a different direction when I remembered my new Snowbell Bouquet dies, purchased in my latest order from Simon Says Stamp (SSS), would be perfect for these colours.  Plus, I LOVE snowdrops!

The snowbell stems and blossoms were die cut from green and white cardstock, respectively. Ink blended  Rustic Wilderness distress ink (DI) on the stems to give them dimension.  Trimmed watercolor paper to a 3.5” square and ink smooshed diluted Rustic Wilderness DI.  To complete the snowy background, splattered with diluted white gouache paint.  Adhered this piece onto white then matted it onto kraft.  Arranged and glued the snowbells on then added more white splatters.  Adhered the gold foil die cut Joyeux Noel sentiment to finish.

A big thank you to the 52CCT team for giving me this GD opportunity.  Ready to join in the fun?  For more inspirations and to link up your entry head to the challenge post HERE. BHope to see you in the falkery!

Guest Designer for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown September 2024 Colour Challenge - Monochrome

Hello everyone.  I’m excired to be back as a guest designer (GD) at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown (52CCT) for their September MONOCHROME colour challenge.

*affiliate links were used in this post when possible at no extra cost to you*

A piece of Blurry Flurries pattern paper from Whimsy Stamps (WS) was in my stash and it determined the monochromatic colour for my card.

This card came together quite easily.  Hill masks were hand cut from masking paper  and adhered to specific areas on the panel before stamping the trees from Inkydinkado Woodland Wonderland stamp set with Dusk dye ink.  Used a finger blending brush to swipe over the masks to create the slopes and add shading under the trees.  Splattered with diluted white gouache paint for an even more snowy wintry look.

The WS Let It Snow sentiment was die cut twice from scraps of white cardstock and once from white glitter paper to stack for dimension.  Used the negative cutout to help with alignment when assembling the card onto a white card base to finish.

I want to thank Andreja and the 52CCT team for this GD opportunity.  For inspirations from the design team and/or link up your entry, click HERE.  Hope to see you in the gallery.  Thank you for stopping by.

Guest Designer for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown November Colour Challenge - Kraft, Black and White

Hello there.  I’m excited to be back guest designing (GD) at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown (52CCT) for their November colour challenge - KRAFT, BLACK & WHITE.

This colour combo screamed masculine to me, so I used Christmas Greenery stamp set from Gina K Designs to create a simple masculine snowy scene card.

The front row of trees were stamped with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder along the bottom of an A2 size Kraft panel.  Stamped a second row of trees with Kraft dye ink behind that row for a tone-on-tone.  Next, ink blended Kraft and black dye inks around the perimeter and above the trees for contrast.  Oops… went a bit heavier handed than planned. 🙈

Splattered with diluted white gouache paint for falling snow, and painted white gouache paint below the trees for the snowy ground.  For some sparkle, applied ink on the trees and ground with a VersaMarker, then heat embossed with clear glitter embossing powder.  Joyful by CZ Designs / Simon Says Stamp was die cut from white and its shadow from black cardstock.  Stamped the secondary sentiment (retired) with Versafine Onyx Black ink directly onto the panel.  Assembled the card onto a white card base to finish.

Guest Designer for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown October 2023 Technique Challenge - Shaker Card

Hello there.  I’m excited to be back guest designing (GD) at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown (52CCT) for their SHAKER CARD technique challenge.

Wanting to celebrate the late Janis Woolbright again this month over at Christmas Kickstart, I used On the Table and Peeking Friends (sentiment) stamp sets from Gerda Steiner Designs to create a CAS (clean and simple) CAT-mas (cat Christmas) tag shaker card. 😉

Started by stamping the Santa hat with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto a scrap of alcohol marker friendly cardstock.  Masked it and stamped that fun cat face.  Removed the mask and coloured with Copic Sketch markers, then fussy cut it out.

Copic markers used:
hat brim/Pom Pom - C00/0/1/2/3
hat - R14/27/37/39
cat - W00/1/3/5, R81

Stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black ink onto a scrap of Bristol paper and heat embossed it with clear glitter embossing powder.  Die cut it out with a tag dies (retired Blueprints 4 die set from My Favorite Things).  Die cut a second tag from Whimsy Stamps Blurry Flurries pattern paper for the backing.  Added acetate and foam tape strips to the back of the tag to form the shaker part of the card.  Did not have any ribbon, so die cut a bow from shimmer white cardstock using new-to-me Fit to be Tied die set from The Greetery.  Assembled the card onto white woodgrain paper adhered to a white card base to finish.

I want to thank Andreja and the 52CCT team for having me GD with them.  To see their card inspirations and/or link up your own Christmas shaker card, click HERE.  Thank you for visiting.

Guest Designer for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown August 2023 Technique Challenge: Embossing Folder

Hello everyone.  I’m excited to be guest designing (GD) this week at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown (52CCT) for their Embossing Folder technique challenge.

My card used all never before used products (NBUS) including Scenic Poinsettia 3D embossing folder (EF) from Spellbinders with Infinity Ornaments dies, Holiday Sentiment Strips stamp and Sentiment Strips fancy die from Hero Arts.  Here’s my card.

Embossed a Bristol panel with EF.  Die cut a DIY ornament stencil from Masking Magic paper and adhered it to the panel.  Ink blended Spun Sugar, Kitsch Flamingo and Picked Raspberry distress inks through the stencil.  For some sparkle, spritz with a clear shimmer spray (could not capture it in a photo).

Heat embossed the sentiment with gold embossing powder next, then die cut it out into a strip with the fancy die.  Cut a string with paper trimmer and die cut attachment piece from gold foil paper.  Assembled the card onto a white card base to finish.

I want to thank Andreja and the 52CCT team for the GD opportunity.  For inspirations from the design team and to link up your entry, click HERE.  Hope to see you in the gallery.  Key products used for my card are linked below.  Thank you for stopping by.

Guest Designer for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown - November 2022 Stash Challenge: Stencil

Hello everyone.  I’m excited to be guest designing (GD) this week at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown (52CCT) for their November STENCILS stash challenge.

I used new to me (NBUS) 3 Dog Holiday stamp from Purple Onion Designs (POD) with NBUS Evergreens stencil from Newton’s Nook Designs (NND) to create this fun card.

The image was stamped on alcohol marker friendly cardstock and on masking paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Fussy cut out the masking paper image to mask the other image.  Used a blending brush next to blend Iced Spruce distress oxide ink over the stencil for the background.

Removed the mask and coloured the image / scene in with Copic Sketch markers.  The sentiment from POD Holiday Messages was heat embossed on black cardstock with white embossing powder to finish.

I want to thank Andreja and the 52CCT team for having me GD.  Thank you for dropping by.  Have a wonderful day.

Guest Designer for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown - August 2021 Colour Challenge: Rose Pink, Aqua, Metallic Gold

Hello there.  I’m so excited to be popping in today as a guest designer (GD) this week at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown (52CCT) for their August colour challenge: Rose Pink, Aqua and Metallic Gold.

Those who know me know I love non-traditional colour Christmas cards.  This colour combo is definitely non-traditional and is beautiful, but I must admit it’s one I would not have thought of on my own.  It took me a bit of time and eventually, I came up with this snowy scene card.

Initially, I was going to use aqua for the sky, but this pink pattern paper from the beautiful Blurry Flurries 6x6 paper pack by Whimsy Stamps won out.  It was die cut out with an A2 stitched rectangle die (retired) and the sentiment (retired) was heat embossed on it using metallic gold embossing powder.

The bears from Polar Bear Pals by My Favorite Things (MFT) were stamped onto Xpress It cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Coloured and shaded them in with Copic markers (BG34, BG32, G00, G0000, R20 (cheeks), C4, C2, C00), then die cut them out with the coordinating dies.  A snowbank was then die cut from Bristol paper using a MFT Stitched Snow Drifts die.  Assembled the card to finish.

I want to thank Andreja and the 52CCT team for having me GD with them this week.  For ideas and inspirations from the design team, head on over to the challenge post HERE.  Thank you for stopping by.
