Otterly Awesome Christmas

Hello everyone.  Are you all ready for Christmas?  Unfortunately, I’m not! 😆  I still need Christmas cards for my in-laws.  But for today, I am sharing a Christmas card I made for my friend, Becky, who loves otters.  This gave me the perfect opportunity to stretch my stamp and use a non-Christmas otter stamp set to create this.

Started by stamping the otter and hat with alcohol friendly black ink on scraps of alcohol friendly cardstock.  Actually, I stamped several of the otter images from the set because I wasn’t sure which one I was going to use.  Coloured them in with Copics, then fussy cut them out because I didn’t want the white border.  The background (noticeable in the close-up photo below) was created with the double embossing technique as explained HERE using a wave embossing folder and a Circle Peek-a Boo die (both discontinued).  For the pop of colour, ink blended Blueprint Sketch, Mermaid Lagoon and Peacock Feathers distress inks within the reverse circle mask.  Flicked on some water and dabbed with a paper towel to give it some texture.

The Merry Christmas Frame was die cut three times from Bristol paper and stacked for dimension. Assembled the card onto a white top folding card base, then spritz the entire panel with a DIY sparkle spray for some shimmer to finish.  Sorry, couldn’t capture it in the photo.

So it was a shame to let those otter coloured images go to waste, so I turned them into cards as well.  I just had to stamp the hat a few more times.

And now back to making more Christmas cards.  Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit.  Merry Christmas to those who celebrate and happy holiday to all.

Such a sweet otter! Love the way his tail hangs out of the circle on the first card! Great watery background and wavy card base to capture his habitat. I like all three of the other cards too - good thing you used them up as they are too cute to waste!
