Yay!

Hello there.  Poppin’ in today to share a birthday card featuring recently released products from Whimsy Stamps (WS).  I meant to post this card last week as it was made for a crafty friend whose birthday was last week! 🫣  Since she loves mixed media, I went outside of my comfort zone and used the new Yay! Word and Shadow die with the new Mixed Media Bits stamp set to create her card.

A fuchsia/gold metallic spray determined the colour pallet.  Started by stamping the images with Versafine Onyx Black and VersaMark inks on watercolour paper.  Heat embossed the black Versafine images with clear embossing powder and dried the VersaMark images to do the VersaMark resist technique.  Ink smooshed the panel next with Squeezed Lemonade, Kitsch Flamingo and Picked Raspberry distress oxide inks (DOx).  Spritz with the metallic spray, which came out super concentrated and bright.  Lifted some of the colour to dull it down by dabbing with a wet paper towel.

Die cut YAY! from white and mounted it on its black shadow.  The secondary sentiments from Simple Sentiment Strips were white heat embossed on black cardstock then trimmed into strips.  Assembled the card onto a white card base to finish.

  8. Fantastic mixed media card, Trina! It goes to show that you get great results even when you go out of your comfort zone. The card has a little bit of grungy look as intended but it still has the cute and fun Trina essence.
