Whimsy Stamps - Shark Snack

Hello there!   Was it just me?... what happened to July? 🤔   To kick off August and cap off shark week (an annual pop-culture event dedicated to shark theme programs on the Discovery Channel), I have a funny ocean scene accordion pop-up card to share today using products from Whimsy Stamps (WS). 

Wanting to show off the large shark from the Shark Snack die set as much as possible, this card is 5x7-inches. To create the card base, two 5x7-inch and two 4x5-inch panels were trimmed from Bristol paper.  The back 5x7-inch and the two 4x5-inch side panels were ink blended with Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean and Mermaid Lagoon distress oxide inks (DOx).  Splattered them with water and blot with a paper towel for texture.   On the back panel, ink blended whatever inks were left on the blender brushes over the Sun Rays stencil.  The front window opening was created next, using the A2 size Bubbly die and the partial die cutting technique to span across the larger width.  To make it a bit sturdier, trimmed Bristol paper to 4.5x6.5-inches, repeated the partial die cutting then glued it behind.  For the two side panels, scored every half inch along the 4" side, then accordion fold them. 

The shark body layers and fin were die cut from light gray cardstock and the fin and top layer ink blended with dark gray dye ink.  The facial features and teeth were die cut from white.  Coloured the iris and pupil/eyebrow with a red and black marker, respectively. The sea vegetation from Build-an-Ocean die set were die cut from white and ink blended with Twisted Citron/Mowed Lawn or Squeezed Lemonade/Spiced Marmalade distress inks (DI).  

For the three inside base layers that the plants attach to, trimmed thick white paper to 1.25x7.5-inch strips and scored from each end at 3/8".   Fussy cut a wavy edge from them, then ink blended Antique Linen/Brushed Corduroy DI on two of them and Mermaid Lagoon DOx on the third.  Had panned to add more plants, but it was too busy and distracting. Die cut "Yummy" from white and ombré ink blended it with Lumberjack Plaid DI.  And last but not least, die cut the Running Scared diver character from black cardstock before assembling the scene/card together to finish.
