Guest Designer for The Flower Challenge #43 - Spring/Autumn

Hello and happy weekend.  I'm excited to end my week as a guest designer for The  Flower Challenge (TFC).  Depending on where you live, Spring or Autumn are the theme choices for challenge #43.

Since it's spring here, I created a spring themed card using a few never before used stuff (NBUS).

Flowers and rain are synonymous here in the Pacific Northwest during spring, so I was happy to put my NBUS Rainboot Planter die from Simon Says Stamp to good use.  Started by die cutting it from alcohol friendly cardstock and colouring it with Copic markers.  It was a little flimsy, so another one was die cut from a scrap of thick white cardstock and adhered to the back to give it strength.

I had a NBUS fence die that I wanted to use, but it was disproportionally too small.  Instead, I stamped the Wood Pallet Background from Altenew in light gray and ink blended the grass with Mowed Lawn distress ink using NBUS Lawn Fawn Grassy stencil.  The sentiment is also NBUS from Honey Bee Stamps Happy Birthday set and it was black heat embossed with clear glitter embossing powder.  Inked the edges of the wood area with a darker gray dye ink and added clear shimmer to the tulips to finish.

Bugaboo Stamps is sponsoring the challenge.  Enter your spring / autumn floral creations for your chance to win.  To see more inspirations from the design team, head on over to the challenge blog post HERE.  I want to thank Viv and TFC team for having me guest.  Thank you for stopping in.  Stay home and craft on!

Lovely card. Your fence background in the colors you chose actually remind me of a waterfall. Cool effect!

Congrats on guesting at The Flower Challenge, Trina!
Your yellow rain boots and purple tulips are so pretty! I thought this was a stamp, and I was more impressed with your coloring when I found out that it was originally a plain die-cut. the wood pallet background and the grass make a lovely scene for the rainboot planter.

Love the boots with the tulips! Perfect with the wood pallet background (looks like a fence so a perfect substitute for your fence die).

So fabulous to have you as GD for this challenge Trina!! Your card is fantastic and love the gumboots because in NZ Springtime is very much known for all the rain too. And I gotta say, I've never, ever thought to colour a die-cut....it seems like an obvious thing to do after seeing your beautiful colouring but its never dawned on me, so thanks so much for the inspiration. Looking forward to your card on the 15th and so happy you shared it with us at TIME OUT too. Please stay safe!!
