CAS Christmas August Reminder - Pine

 Hello there. This is the reminder post for the PINE challenge at CAS Christmas.  

For my card this time, I am featuring a pine cone on a pine branch from The Magic of Christmas stamp set by Simon Says Stamp (SSS).  

The image was stamped on ivory cardstock from Gina K Designs with Stampin’ Up! (SU!) Crumb Cake dye ink and coloured with a few shades of brown Polychromos pencils for a sepia look.  Added accumulated snow on the image with a white Signo gel pen.  An ink smear mishap caused me to die cut the image out with a SSS Stitched Circle die.  Ink blended around the edges with Crumb Cake dye ink using a foam blending tool.  Splattered with diluted white gouache paint for falling snow.

Next, stamped the image onto a Crumb Cake card base.  Adhered an ivory panel die cut with an A2 Stitched Rectangle Set 2 die from My Favorite Things (MFT) and stamped the image again.  Lined up the coloured circle image with the image on the card base, giving it a spotlight effect.  Heat embossed the sentiment from MFT Itty Bitty Holiday with gold embossing powder to finish.

CAS Christmas October Challenge - Gray and Red

Hello everyone.  I’m back with my second post today.  This time it’s for the October challenge at CAS Christmas.  This month’s theme is GRAY and RED.

I used a new-to-me Jingle Bells stamp from Purple Onion Designs (POD) with STAMPlorations Jingle Bells die to create my clean and simple card.

The POD bell image is am unmounted red rubber stamp, so a temporary adhesive was used to attach it to the MISTI door.  Stamped the image on a stitched Smoky Slate rectangle panel with Memento London Fog ink because I was planning to colour it with Copic markers, but the small narrow areas made me switch to Polychromos pencils. 

Next, the sentiment was die cut from red foil paper.  Assembled the card onto a white card base, then drew in a few stars with a white pencil to finish.  Easy-peasy.

CAS Christmas May Challenge - Foliage and Berries

Hello there.  It’s that time of the month again and the May challenge at CAS Christmas begins now.  This month’s theme is Foliage and Berries. 

When I purchased Partridge in a Pear Tree digital image (digi) from Power Poppy for the challenge last August HERE, I also bought the Season of Serenity digi with intentions to use it for the CAS  Christmas Birds challenge last October.  Weeeeell, because digis are not on my supply radar, no surprise I forgot all about it.  The image is a bluejay surrounded by foliage and berries.  I coloured the entire image, but was not happy with how the foliage and berries turned out!... go figure! 😆  I almost tossed it and started over, but then realized I could crop it!... a perk of CAS cards. 😉  Here’s my salvaged card. 

Started by re-sizing and printing out the no-line colouring version of the digi onto X-Press It cardstock and no-line coloured it with Copic markers and Polychromos pencils. 

Next, a scrap of X-Press It cardstock was die cut with new Nesting Postage die from Waffle Flower.  Trimmed the image piece to slightly smaller than the postage cutout, then stamped the sentiment from Studio Katia Merry Poinsettia in black.   Popped up the postage piece with three stacked pieces of thick white cardstock onto a blue A2 size panel, and added a few snowflake sequins to finish.

CAS Christmas February Reminder - Dogs and/or Cats

Hello there!  For those who celebrated, hope your Valentine’s Day was lovely.  And now jumping 10 months ahead 😂, I’m  here with the reminder post for the February Dogs and/or Cats challenge at CAS Christmas.

I was planning on using a dog image this time around, but I’ve had Newton’s Candy Cane stamp set from Newton’s Nook Designs (NND) sitting in a drawer for years, so I thought it was time to finally ink it up to create this.

Stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on an X-Press It panel from my stash that had been cut out with the Wrapped Stitch Rectangle die from Memory Box.  Die cut the cup (retired) also from X-Press It cardstock, then coloured them both in with Copic markers (W0, W1, W3, R46, R27, R24, R02). The sentiment from the same set was white heat embossed onto the cup.

Masked the image next, then ink blended Antique Linen distress ink with a blender brush through an English Brick Wall stencil from My Favorite Things for the background before adhering the cup over the image.  Added shading beneath the cup and Crystal Glaze on the candy cane to finish.

‘Twas a Trio of Mice Before Christmas

Hello everyone.  Still dealing with back/hip problems, but at least for now I’m able to sit and craft in short spurts of time.  So for today, I have an easy Christmas card to share.  It was inspired by several challenges.

I used an oldie but goodie Sending Joy stamp set from Your Next Stamp (YNS). Stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on X-Press It cardstock.  Coloured it in with Copic markers and Polychromos pencils, then fussy cut it out with a slight border.

The wood panel background was from my stash.  It is Bristol paper embossed with the Pinewood Planks embossing folder from Stampin’ Up! (SU!).  To make the wood details more noticeable, Chipped Sapphire distress ink was blended on with a blender brush, keeping a heavier blend on the left.  The sentiment from never before used (NBUS) Clearly Besotted Merry Mouse was white heat embossed on a navy blue cardstock strip.  For some sparkle, added clear shimmer to the purples and a few jewel rhinestones to finish.

CAS Christmas October Reminder - Christmas Birds

Hello and welcome to the reminder post for the October Christmas Birds challenge at CAS Christmas.

I couldn’t let this challenge pass by without using my favourite little penguin from now closed down Winnie and Walter (WW)!  I paired him with new NBUS sentiment stamp set Naughty and Nice from Scrapbook.com to create this fun card. 

A panel was die cut from X-Press It cardstock using A2 Stitched Rectangle Set 1 die from My Favorite Things.  Stamped the penguin and sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Coloured the image in with Copic Sketch markers and Polychromos pencils

Next, stamped the sentiment onto masking paper to use as a guide to hand cut a thought bubble stencil.  Adhered the DIY stencil over the stamped sentiment on the panel and applied SU! Sahara Sand dye ink with a blender brush.  Stencilled the three little circles as well using a WW stencil and a detailed blending tool.  A warm grey Polychromos pencil was used to add shading to them.  Clear shimmer added to the hat brim and pom pom finished off the card.

WCMD 2020 - Warm Cocoa Wishes

Hello there.  Didn’t get a chance to take the photos till today, but I made this clean and simple (CAS) Christmas card yesterday for World Card Making Day (WCMD).

The cute little mouse from new NBUS Simon Says Stamp Cocoa and Love was stamped on X-Press It cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured with Copic markers and Polychromos pencils.  It was initially stamped directly on a stitched rectangle panel, but ink smears forced me to fussy cut it out. 😝 

A panel was then die cut from Bristol paper with My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle Set 1 die.  Adhered a ground mask and added aqua dye ink with a blender brush for the background.  Spritz it with water and blot with a paper towel to give it texture.  Black heat embossed the sentiment from Your Next Stamp Cool Tag Banner Sentiments.  Adhered the image to the panel then added shading under him to finish.

Christmas Craft Creations September Reminder - Shaped Card

Hello there.  This is the reminder post as guest designer at Christmas Craft Creations (CCC) for their September Shaped Card challenge.

I used a new NBUS stamp set from Kraftin Kimmie called Christmas Blessings and went old school creating a pyramid card... at least that was what it was called when I first made it way back when. 😂  These days they are referred to as a teepee card.  Here’s my card.

I made this from memory, but if you googled teepee card, I’m sure you can find tutorials for it.  The three 4” squares that form the base were cut from Bristol paper.  Scored each square once diagonally corner to corner, fold along the scored lines then assembled to the pyramid shape.  I tried using pattern paper and even ink blending to decorate the background like you see on these types of cards, but the image got lost in it, so I just kept it really clean and simple (CAS).

The image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on X-Press It cardstock, coloured with Copic Sketch markers and Polychromos pencils, then fussy cut out.  The sentiment from the same set was white heat embossed on black cardstock then trimmed down to a strip.  I wanted the front to be seamless so I traced the folded down base onto Bristol paper and hand cut it out.  The star (unknown) was die cut from gold foil paper.  Assembled the card and added shading below Joseph with a gray color pencil to finish.  I couldn’t find my velcro, so held it together with temporary tape to take the picture,  but when I send it, the velcro will be added.  Here it is folded down to fit into an envelope.

Fabulous Blooms

Hi everyone.  I'm popping in to share a quick clean and simple (CAS) floral card.  I actually created today's card after another card scheduled to post tomorrow.  I recently purchased the gorgeous Hero Arts / Gina K Designs collaboration stamp set called Friendship Blooms.  While putting away my supplies after creating tomorrow's card, I had another simple idea for it.

This stamp image is large and to keep my card CAS, it was stamped off the edge with Amalgam black ink on hot press watercolor paper slightly larger than A2 size.  It would look fine left as, but I added shading with gray and black Polychromos pencils.  The panel was die cut out next with an A2 sized stitched rectangle die (retired).

The bold greeting was die cut from Bristol paper and blue ink was then blended on with a blender brush.  For some sparkle, it was inked with VersaMark and heat embossed with clear glitter embossing powder.  A few clear sparkly sequins finished off the card.
