Jolly Snowman

Hello there.  It's still Christmas in July, and I have a CAS (clean and simple) Christmas card to share using an oldie, but goodie stamp from Purple Onion Designs (POD).   For those not familiar with this cutie, meet Jolly (snowman looking up).

Jolly was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on X-Press It paper, coloured with Copic Sketch markers then masked.  Ink blended Water Hyacinth fresh dye ink from Altenew (ALT) then die cut the panel down with the Blanket Stitched Rectangle from Pinkfresh Studio (PFS) for a decorative edge.

Copic markers used:
carrot nose - YR12/16/23/27, E08
scarf/pocket - B60/63/66
twig arms - E31/25/29
buttons - N7
snow/shading - B0000/000/00, C00/0/1

And I couldn't think of a more appropriate greeting wish (retired Poppy Stamps) from Jolly. 😉  It was black heat embossed using Versafine Onyx Black ink and clear glitter embossing powder for a bit of sparkle.  Adhered the panel onto a white card base then added falling snow with a white gel pen to finish.

Guest Designer for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown - November 2022 Stash Challenge: Stencil

Hello everyone.  I’m excited to be guest designing (GD) this week at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown (52CCT) for their November STENCILS stash challenge.

I used new to me (NBUS) 3 Dog Holiday stamp from Purple Onion Designs (POD) with NBUS Evergreens stencil from Newton’s Nook Designs (NND) to create this fun card.

The image was stamped on alcohol marker friendly cardstock and on masking paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Fussy cut out the masking paper image to mask the other image.  Used a blending brush next to blend Iced Spruce distress oxide ink over the stencil for the background.

Removed the mask and coloured the image / scene in with Copic Sketch markers.  The sentiment from POD Holiday Messages was heat embossed on black cardstock with white embossing powder to finish.

I want to thank Andreja and the 52CCT team for having me GD.  Thank you for dropping by.  Have a wonderful day.

Jolly Bianca

Hello everyone.  I’m popping in quickly to share another CAS (clean and simple) Christmas card.  The process to create it was the same as my Fido winter scene card HERE.  I’m slowly working my way through new/unused stamps from Purple Onion Designs and chose Bianca and Neve (Snowman with Winter Bird) stamp for my card.

everyone

The image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on a stitched rectangle panel die cut from Xpress It cardstock, then coloured with Copic Sketch markers.

Blues - B39, B37, B34, B32
Pink - RV00 (cheeks)
Browns - E23, E21, E04, E02
Grays - C1, C0, C00

Stamped the image again on masking paper and fussy cut out to create a mask.  Covered the image with the mask, then ink blended Spun Sugar distress ink with a blender brush for the background.  The sentiment from My Favorite Things Bitty Holiday Wishes was black heat embossed with clear glitter embossing powder.  Dotted her cheeks and added snow on the ground with a white gel pen to finish.

CAS Christmas February Reminder - Winter Scene

Hello there.  This is the reminder post for the Winter Scene challenge at CAS Christmas.

I don’t have a dog, but I imagine dog owners can relate to this snowy winter scene. 😉   I used new stamp Fido (dog in snow) from Purple Onion Designs (POD) to create my winter scene.

On a stitched rectangle panel die cut from Xpress It cardstock, the image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Stamped it again onto masking paper from Gina K Designs (GKD) and fussy cut out to create a mask.  Adhered the mask over the image then applied Salvaged Patina distress ink with a blender brush for the background.

Removed the mask and coloured the image with Copic markers.  The sentiment from Gerda Steiner Designs Christmas Puppies was black heat embossed with clear glitter embossing powder.  Added falling snow with a white gel pen to finish.

Delivering Holiday Cheer

Hello everyone.  I’m popping in to share a simple holiday card inspired by some challenges.  I used another unused (NBUS) stamp illustrated by Stacey Yacula from Purple Onion Designs (POD) called Flannel (raccoon pulling sled with gifts).

Started by die cutting a piece of Xpress It cardstock with an A2 size stitch rectangle die (retired).  Stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured it with Copic Sketch markers.

Next, used a birch tree die (retired) to die cut a DIY stencil from acetate.  Masked off the top area and positioned the stencil over the image, then carefully and lightly blended SU! Smoky Slate dye ink through the stencil with a blender brush, fading out towards the image.  The sentiment from POD Holiday Messages was then black heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

Mounted the panel onto a white card base, then added snow with a white gel pen to finish.  Thank you for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.

A Little Holiday Cheer

Hello there.  The 2021 Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop is ending soon…

…so I couldn’t pass up the chance to ink up NBUS (never before used) adorable Rory & Noelle (Winter Mouse & Squirrel on Log) stamp by Stacey Yacula from Purple Onion Designs (POD) to create a clean and simple (CAS) winter scene card.

Image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Xpress It cardstock and on masking paper.  Fussy cut masking image out to create the mask.  Used the Birch Tree Window die from Simon Says Stamp (SSS) next to die cut a stencil from masking paper.  Adhered the mask over the image, then positioned the DIY stencil on top and applied Salvaged Patina distress ink for the background.

Removed the stencil and mask, then coloured the image / scene in with Copic markers.  To ground the image better, white gouache paint was applied at the bottom of the log for a snowy ground.  The sentiment from POD Holiday Messages was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink and then heat embossed with clear glitter embossing powder.  Die cut out with My Favorite Things A2 Stitch Rectangle Set 1 die, then mounted the panel with two pieces of white cardstock underneath for a bit of dimension.  Used a white gel pen to add falling snow to finish.

Thank you for stopping by.

CAS Christmas October Challenge - Gray and Red

Hello everyone.  I’m back with my second post today.  This time it’s for the October challenge at CAS Christmas.  This month’s theme is GRAY and RED.

I used a new-to-me Jingle Bells stamp from Purple Onion Designs (POD) with STAMPlorations Jingle Bells die to create my clean and simple card.

The POD bell image is am unmounted red rubber stamp, so a temporary adhesive was used to attach it to the MISTI door.  Stamped the image on a stitched Smoky Slate rectangle panel with Memento London Fog ink because I was planning to colour it with Copic markers, but the small narrow areas made me switch to Polychromos pencils.

Next, the sentiment was die cut from red foil paper.  Assembled the card onto a white card base, then drew in a few stars with a white pencil to finish.  Easy-peasy.

Darnell (djkardkreations) is our wonderful guest this month.  To see what she and the design team have created to inspire you to play along, click HERE.  Thank you for stopping by.  Have a wonderful week.

CAS Christmas June Reminder - Snowman

Hello there!  This is the reminder post for this month’s Snowman challenge at CAS Christmas.

Due to the lack of space and my preference for clear stamps, I stopped buying red rubber stamps.  I do make exceptions for background stamps... and apparently for adorable stamps from The Sweetest Little Town collection by Stacey Yacula at Purple Onion Designs (POD), too. 😂*lol*   I think it helps that POD offers their stamps unmounted, which make them the same thickness as clear stamps… but I still prefer clear stamps. 😂   My favourite from the collection is Sweet Snow Friends (snowman, penguin & bunny), which I used for my card.

To temporarily adhere the unmounted rubber stamp to the MISTI stamping tool door, Elmer’s rubber cement glue was applied to the back then let dry for a bit before attaching it.  Stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on an Xpress It cardstock panel die cut with the Memory Box Wrapped Stitch Rectangle die.  Coloured it with Copic markers.

Stamped the image again onto masking paper and fussy cut it to create the mask.  Masked the image then blended Salvaged Patina distress ink with a blender brush for the background.  Lightly spritz with water and blot with a paper towel ti give a bit of texture.  Dried the panel with the heat tool before black heat embossing the sentiment from the Jolly Happy Snowmen stamp set by Kraftin Kimmie.  I was going to splatter with some white gouache paint to get a snowy look, but wasn’t confident enough and knew I would ruin it. 😂   Adhered the panel to a white card base to finish.

Have you played along yet?  The challenge ends on June 24 PST, so there is still time.  For more wonderful inspirations from the rest of the design team, head on over to the challenge blog post HERE.  Thank you for stopping by.
