CAS Christmas November Challenge - Santa

Hello there!  Jolly old St. Nick - aka Santa - is this month’s challenge at CAS Christmas.  Here's my card.

My card was inspired by a song.  The obvious is “Here Comes Santa Claus", but it was actually "Baby Santa" oops I meant "Santa Baby" (thanks, Loll for the correction) the part that goes "hurry down the chimney tonight”!

Started by stamping Santa with Copic friendly black ink on a scrap of X-press It cardstock, coloured in with Copics, then fussy cut out.   Created the chimney by blending Barn Door and Vintage Photo distress inks (di) through a brick stencil.  Cut a white strip for the top of the chimney and lightly added "soot" with the ink remaining on the black sponge.

For the sky background, blended Tumbled Glass, Shaded Lilac and Blueprint Sketch di’s on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock.  Next a Postage Stamp panel with a circle aperture in the centre was die cut from Whisper White cardstock.  Assembled the pieces behind the circle opening to create the rooftop scene, then foam mounted the panel onto a white card base.  Heat embossed the sentiment from the same set with white embossing powder on a black strip.  Added snow with a white gel pen to finish.

This was the second version.  My first version was a starry night sky, but I wasn't happy with the look of the background spritz with water and it didn't photograph well.

We have the talented winner of our September Wreath challenge, Pam Sparks of Expressions with Heart,  joining us as our guest this month.  She and my team have created some fabulous CAS Santa Christmas cards to inspire you.  Check them out HERE .  Challenge runs till November 24, so there is plenty of time to get your entries linked up.  Can't wait to see what you come up with.  Thank you for spending time with me.  Have a wonderful weekend.

So cute Trina, great colouring and I love both of those night skies. Awesome cards. BTW I think I need one of those rectangular postage stamp die sets :)

Such creative and fun cards. Love how you made the chimney and as always love your attention to detail. The postage rectangle frame die really is fabulous and so are both of your amazing cards X

You make the most adorable and colourful cards Trina. The blended sky is the most amazing combination. Great work! And love the fun Santa trying to get down the chimney! I know which song you are talking about ... it's Santa Baby! Now I'm going to have that stuck in my head all night! :) xx

Trina, I'm always impressed by the way you use stamps and I enjoy clicking the stamp links to see what the original stamp images are. This is one of the great examples - the original Santa image was not upside down but you used it in a clever way.
You created such an adorable scene! Love all the details including the sponged "soot".
Hideko xx
