Jane’s Doodles Challenge #3 - Love

Hello there.  It’s time for the third Janes Doodles challenge and the theme this fortnight is Love!

Since my hubby accidentally saw his Valentine’s card, I went back to the drawing board and it resulted in this card featuring the Jane’s Doodles Bear Hugs stamp set.

The bears were stamped with Memento black ink on X-press It cardstock.  Shading was added with Copic markers, then they were fussy cut out.  The mirror image stamping technique was used to create the bear on the right.

Having limited crafting supplies with me and wanting to keep it masculine, I went with a monochromatic ombre background using 1-1/4” scraps of black, dark gray and light gray cardstock.  Didn’t have red cardstock with me, so a Bristol die-cut heart from my stash was coloured with a blender brush and Candied Apple distress ink.  For some depth, Black Soot distress ink was applied around the edge.  The sentiment was then white heat embossed to finish.

Ready to play along for your chance to win a $30 gift certificate to the Jane’s Doodles store?  For full details and to link up your project, head over to the challenge blog post HERE.  Thank you for stopping by.  Have a wonderful week.

This is a great card for hubby. Bummer that he saw the original one! The shading on the bears is so authentic and something I am trying to work on. I love how you did the strips for the background. Looks just like an artic sky.

You made such an adorable bear couple (pink & blue cheek), using the mirror image stamping technique, Trina! The color combo of the back panels is effective. The bright red heart and white polar bears pop.
