The Flower Challenge #43 Reminder - Spring / Autumn

Hello again.  I’m back with my guest design reminder post for the Spring / Autumn challenge at The Flower Challenge (TFC).

Depending on which hemisphere you live, the challenge has a spring or autumn option.  I thought it would be fun to combine them and used an autumn sunflower from Jane’s Doodles and coloured it in spring rainbow colours.  Here’s my card.

The Fadeout ink from Ink on 3 is intended for no line colouring with any medium.  I’ve only used it once before with little success, so I wanted to try again.  I stamped the flower portion of the sunflower on an A2 sized X-Press It cardstock panel, then coloured in with Copics.  Masked it before stamping the stem/leaves then coloured that in with Copics as well.  After that, the panel was die cut out with the scallop rectangle die in the Card Front Element Builder from Sugar Pea Designs.

Next, the image and the scallop edge up to the stitched line were masked off and SU!’s Smoky Slate dye ink was blended on with a blender brush over a Diagonal Grid stencil from Create a Smile to give it a “trellis” background.  The sentiment from The Greeting Farm Mini Remix Happy was black heat embossed.  The scallop panel was adhered to a very light gray stripe pattern paper panel (it was hard to capture in the photo).  Added clear raindrops from Studio Katia, clear shimmer on the petals, dots to the leaves with a white gel pen and Tonic Crystal Glaze to the sunflower center to finish.

I have to admit I actually enjoyed no line colouring  this time around and am slowly getting over my fear of it!  For more inspirations from the design team, head over to TFC blog.  Enter your card or card(s) for your chance to win a gift card from this month’s sponsor Bugaboo Stamps.  Thank you for stopping in.  Stay home and craft on.

Gorgeous and unique rainbow colored sunflower, Trina! The colors look so beautiful against the light gray stenciled background. The white dots on the leaves and the glaze of the center of the flower add so much interest.

Good grief, this is magnificient!!! You definitely should never be scared of 'no-line' colouring again, you've certainly mastered it very quickly. I love anything to do with rainbows and this flower is spectacular. You did so well with your masking too, the grey blending adds that little extra and the clear drops are the perfect embellishment. I'm so very happy you were our Guest Designer this month at The Flower Challenge, and that you shared this with us at TIME OUT too. Please stay safe!!
