CAS Christmas February Challenge - Winter Scene

Hello there.  It’s time for a new challenge at CAS Christmas.  The theme this month is Winter Scene.

I used a new (NBUS) adorable stamp set called Penguin Winter from Whimsy Stamps to create a little ice skating scene.

I bought the Wavy Nested Frames die set in the same order, so I used it to die cut a DIY stencil from masking paper.  I created my scene inside it to preserve white space and keep my card CAS (clean and simple).  Adhered the stencil onto a stitched panel that was die cut from Xpress It cardstock.  Used my MISTI stamping tool to stamp the penguin with Memento Tuxedo Black ink then masked him.  Shifted the panel to the left slightly then stamped him with Memento London Fog ink this time.  Repeated these steps without re-inking (generation stamping) to complete the movement effect.  He’s so quick that he almost skated out of the frame. 😂  For the reflection, stamped the penguin onto a piece of acetate also with Memento London Fog ink, flipped it over upside down, lined it up with the original image, then pressed down.

Next, stamped the trees then applied Tumbled Glass distress ink around the edge.  Removed the mask and stencil snd coloured in the scene with Copic markers.  The sentiment from Evelin T Designs Season’s Greetings was black heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  Mounted the panel onto a white card base, then added snow with a white gel pen and movement lines with a black Polychromos pencil to finish.

Izzy (from Izzy Scraps) is our guest this month.  To see the inspirations from her and the rest of the design team so you can play along, head on over to the challenge post HERE.  Thank you for stopping by.

I love that you could take your little penguin stamp and use it to create motion, and reflection - and the anchor to the most amazing little scene! It's also a beautifully clean design - but for me, this would have been far from simple! :D Thanks for joining us at Happy Little Stampers for the CAS Challenge!
