Leading Lady for Winnie & Walter Take Three

Hello there!  I can't believe we are 3/4 of the way through this month already!  Thank you once again to everyone who left kind, supportive comments on my leading lady posts so far.  And thank you for joining me again this week as I take over the Winnie & Walter (W&W) blog with this third post.

So for this week, I was having fun with some of the adorable critter stamps and the reverse image stamping technique, or a.k.a. the mirror image stamping technique.  I used two methods for my cards.

STAMPING BLOCKS

Stamping blocks are created specifically for this technique, but a background stamp with a dense enough design does the trick too.  In my case, I used Mini Scenery: Round and Round as my stamping block.

Using my MISTI, the bear from Happy Dance with Evelin T Designs was stamped with black Copic friendly ink onto the back of Mini Scenery: Round and Round stamp.

As you can see,  the original image stamped.  Then that image was stamped onto cardstock, giving the reverse/mirror image.  And that is the basics of this technique.

Now onto the card.  Both bears were stamped with black Copic friendly ink onto X-press It cardstock, coloured with Copics, then die cut out with the coordinating Happy Dance with Evelin T Designs cutaways.  For the reverse image, I held it up to the light and lined up the die with the image from the back.

The pierced heart from True Dotty Heart cutaways was die cut from an A2 piece of Bristol paper.   Using mini blending tools, blended Tumbled Glass, Shaded Lilac and Blueprint Sketch distress inks (di) onto the heart cutout, then inlaid it back into the panel.  Hugs from In a Phrase: Hugs & Kisses was die cut five times from scraps of white cardstock and stacked for dimension.  Popped the bears up with foam tape to finish.

REFLECTION

For my next card, I used a piece of acetate to achieve a reverse reflection image.  This technique is much simpler and more forgiving since the reverse image doesn't need to be crisp.  In fact, you want it to be faint and faded.

Started by masking both sides of an A2 Neenah cardstock panel, leaving a strip down the middle.  Stamped the penguin from Winter Wishes with Evelin T Designs with black Copic friendly ink.  Stamped the penguin again, but this time with Memento London Fog ink onto a piece of acetate.  Flipped the acetate over, lined up the image and pressed down.

Coloured the images with Copics.  Masked the original penguin and a snowbank, then blended with a mini blending tool Candied Apple, Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed di's to create a warm winter sky.

Blended Tumbled Glass di for the ice.  Added a bit of the sky colours onto the ice as well.  Used a white gel pen for ice details.  The snow is Glitter Snow paste through Scenery: Big Bang Circle creative screenings.  Removed the masks from the two sides then black heat embossed the sentiment from Warm Wishes to You with clear glitter embossing powder to finish.

SPINNER

For my final card, I made a spinner card.  The reverse image of the puppy from Dog-gone Cute with Evelin T Designs  was created using the first stamping block method.

The Big Bang Circle creative screenings used above for snow was used this time to create a confetti background on the front.  Cracked Pistachio, Salty Ocean and Mermaid Lagoon distress oxide (DOx) inks were blended onto an A2 size mixed media panel.  A circle opening was then die cut from it.  Used that to trace a circle on a mix media card base, then die cut the same circle opening from the card base.  Attached embroidery thread down the centre of the opening and sandwiched it between the two puppy images.  Adhered the confetti panel over top.  A circle frame was added around the opening for a more polished look.

On the inside of the card, blended Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers and Mermaid Lagoon Dox inks and spritz with water.  Yappy is from The Big, the Bold and the Happy cutaways.  The "h" in happy was simply snipped off then flipped.

Birthday from In a Word: Happy stamp set was white heat embossed on a black strip.  The balloon  from Big Round Balloon cutaways was coloured with the same DOx inks as the confetti.  And that finished off the card.

WOW! Three fantastic cards, Trina! Thanks for all the tips on reversing our stamps! I love how you've colored everything! The bears look totally different and I had to look twice to see that one was the reverse of the other. The reflective penguin is perfect! I've tried this technique and didn't have near the success you have. And the spinning puppy is such fun! By switching the h in happy, you've created the perfect sentiment for this card!

Those sweet bears in the first card look like they are running towards us with their arms wide open ready to give hugs - what a great happy card! Love the reflection of the little skater in the second card and the contrast between the icy pond and the sunset colours of the sky. And what a great idea to use that adorable puppy to create a spinner card! All in all, a fabulous trio of cards!
