Jane’s Doodles Challenge #6 - Embossing

Hello everyone!  I’m finally back in my home!  The restoration took almost two months... and apparently this is quick!   Anyway, I’m here today with the next Jane’s Doodles challenge.  The theme is Embossing.

I wanted to give this cool idea by Yana Smakula a try.  She used a single background stamp which was a lot easier than what I did.  About a quarter way through, I actually gave up on this card, but since returning home, I decided to follow through till the end to see what happens.  Well luckily, it turned out okay.

I didn’t have light pink cardstock with me, so on a piece of light blue cardstock, the different flowers from Jane’s Doodles Magnolia were stamped with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with Liquid Platinum embossing powder.  Masking was used.

The magnolias were coloured with blue Copic markers, then the background was coloured in black.  Splatters were added by mixing white gouache paint with water.  The sentiment from Jane’s Doodles Birthday Wishes was heat embossed with the same Liquid Platinum embossing powder on a scrap of Bristol paper.  Adhered the panel to a split black/white card base to finish.

I chose to heat emboss, but embossing could be dry embossing or embossing paste.  Get your creations linked up HERE for your chance to win a $30 gift card to the Jane’s Doodles store.  There you will also find more inspirations from my team and our guest Ishani (Quillish).  Thank you for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.

Whoo hoo, home again. I can't imagine how happy you are to have that over with but how great it must be. I'd love to see your craft room. This card is so lovely. I like the Liquid Platinum, it outlines these flowers so well. The coloring is gorgeous and I love blue and it pops against the black.

This is gorgeous, Trina, and very reminiscent of what I've seen Yanna do. I'm glad you didn't give up on it even though the masking and coloring took a long time. Thanks for sharing your card with us at Just Us Girls.

So glad to hear that you are back in your home, Trina!
This is absolutely STUNNING! I thought, at first, you colored magnolias on black card base somehow. It must have taken a lot of patience to mask, stamp, heat-emboss and color all these flowers and filled the background in black! The time and efforts were really worth it. It turned out an amazing card!
